TRAFALQUAR
Efficient Capital Expenditure
As container volumes increase, port and container terminal operators realise that their key resources, such as quays, quay cranes, and storage space, are inadequate for new situations. Then terminal operators are compelled to address their respective investment strategies.
To enable port and container terminal operators to assess their main parameters against a long-term rise in volumes, TBA has developed the strategic terminal model TRAFALQUAR. Given increasing service requirements for vessels, current industry benchmarks are often outdated and can no longer be applied to determine optimal terminal setup. However, TRAFALQUAR allows container terminal operators to prepare for the future as it evaluates the characteristics of a particular terminal against the changing environment and rationalises trade-offs between vessel service and:
- Quay length
- Number, type, and performance of quay cranes
- Yard storage and handling capacity
- Yard equipment utilisation
During the last 10 years, TBA has used TRAFALQUAR in over 100 projects for more than 50 terminals worldwide.
