Trainees and Graduate Students
To stay at the forefront of developments in the container handling business and to consolidate our leading position in the field of software for automated container equipment, TBA is constantly working on various R&D initiatives. These initiatives are often supported by trainees from various universities.
We mostly work with students with a background in Operations Research, Engineering or Computer Science but are open for any suggestion. We accept interns at our offices in Delft, Düsseldorf and Satu Mare.
Examples of subjects for traineeships at TBA:
- Studying job assignment strategies of vehicles or cranes at container terminals, in order to ensure timely arrival of vehicles in dynamic circumstances.
- Optimizing strategies to operate the yard (container storage) at container terminals: e.g. maximizing capacity, having the right container available as soon as possible, minimizing the amount of yard equipment.
- Information visualisation in live operations through mobile applications. In order to improve on the ground decision-making, we are working on combination sources of in-formation.
- Serious gaming for training. TBA is participating in a large-scale research project (SALOMO), and as a part of this, there are possibilities to develop training around operational control using serious gaming technology.
